Chapter 11 · Run
Parties
Your contacts — the people you call and who call you — with your own fields and tags, so every call knows who is on the line.
What parties are for
A party is a person or business with a phone number. When a listed number calls you, or you call it, HelloCall knows who it is: the name shows in call history, and a Get party info step gives the workflow their details — so the agent can greet them by name, or skip questions you already know the answer to.
Add and edit a party
- Open Parties and press Add party.
- Fill in the Name and Phone (both required), and whatever else you know: Email, Address, City, Location, Country, Note, and a Type if you use types.
- Add Tags: type one and press Enter (or a comma); tap one of your existing tags to add it; Backspace removes the last.
- Fill in your own fields, if you have defined any, and press Add party.
One number belongs to one party: a second party with the same number is refused. Click a party’s name to edit it; Delete is in the row menu — calls from that number no longer know who is calling.
Your own fields, types and tags
Settings → Parties is where you shape the party record for your business:
- Your own fields — for example “Account number” or “Preferred language”. Each has a label, a variable name (written as
{party.account_number}in a workflow) and a type: Text, Long text, Number, Phone, Email, Date, Time, or Choice from a list. - Types — what kind of party this is, one per party: customer, supplier, lead.
- Tags — anything you want to group parties by, as many as you like: vip, hindi, renewal-due.
Parties filled in by calls
A Save to party step creates or updates the caller’s record from the call: the fields you map yourself, plus — with Let AI read the call on — anything the conversation revealed that fits your own fields. It never blanks a value you already have. A Get party info step reads the record back on the next call.
Find a party
Search by name or number — typed with or without spaces and country code. Each row shows the name, phone, place, email and when it was last updated.
Questions about parties
Every question from every chapter is also on the FAQ page.
Can I import my contacts from a spreadsheet?
Not into Parties directly. You can upload a spreadsheet into a campaign, and a Save to party step in its workflow can create the parties as the calls happen.
Why is my new custom field empty in a workflow?
Party details are only available after a Get party info step, and only for parties that have a value in that field. Check {party_found} before relying on it.
Can two parties share a phone number?
No — one number belongs to one party, because the number is how a call finds its party.
How do I call everyone with a certain tag?
Create a campaign, then choose Import from party list and name the tag (or Pick contacts and filter by it).
Does deleting a party delete its calls?
No. Its calls stay in call history (for their 30 days), shown by number instead of name.
Will AI overwrite what my team typed?
No. Save to party only fills in what it heard and never blanks an existing value, and fields you map by hand in the step always win.
